We previewed the Lamborghini Huracán successor quite a while ago already, Now there’s fresh news–it will be called ‘Temerario.’

We already geve you a look at the Lamborghini Huracán successor quite a while ago already, and since those exclusive sketches based on spy images, it’s been pretty quiet on that on the Sant Agata front.

But now there’s news. It will be called Temerario.

Temerario

Temerario Means Ruthless in Italian

Lamborghini has just registered the name and its script with the European Patent Office. It has a pair of little Lambo bull’s horns on the T and the O. Just as it is on the on the new Countach’s C and H. Interestingly, Temerario does not seem to come from the name of a legendary bull, which is an age old Lamborghini tradition. Rather, temerario basically means ruthless in Italian.

Taking a slightly deeper if hypothetical look under the skin, Temerario loses the Huracan’s naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 for a 4-liter biturbo V8. It’s the same engine used in Lamborghini’s Le Mans Hypercar and the Urus SUV, so it already has a pretty neat a pedigree. The Audi derived V8 makes around 680 HP in its Squadra Corse endurance racing application.

Speculation Exists Around Temerario Drive

The hybrid racer also has a Le Mans specification electric motor generator sitting between its engine and the seven-speed Xtrac transmission driving the rear wheels. It is understood that the Temerario’s biturbo V8 will similarly benefit electrification, to the extent that its electrically supported turbochargers only start boosting strong very high up in the rev range.

The Temerario’s all-wheel drive set-up also remains a mystery. Will it have an electric front axle, or will it be a regular mechanical system? One thing we do know for sure, is that Temerario will be its own car. It will not share its innards like Huracán did with the Audi R8. Lamborghini’s Asia-Pacific boss Francesco Scardaoni recently let it slip that, “We were so profitable, that we were given the green light to develop our own platform!” The next R8 is an EV.

No More V10, But it’s All Lamborghini

Our exclusive sketches pick up on Temerario’s narrow headlight slots extending far into the contoured front hood. An aggressive aerodynamic apron carries LED daytime running within the front vents. A short hood directs the view over the windshield and contoured roof. Strongly flared wheel arches and significant inlets, a massive diffuser and exhaust at the back combine to deliver a squatter stance.
