For all of you who have ever wondered just how good our early cars can be?
In 2 out of 3 runs a Special Works '04 GT2 was the only car on street tires to beat the BM on the PCA Bogus hill climb. The time difference over the two mile, 8 turn climb was less than 3.0 sec.

2280# on the WADOT scale

Bogus in '05

Car is currently registered in WA and smog exempt. Although not required this car with the 3.6 also easily passes our smog requirements. (not the toughest in the world) Jan of '09 it will be eligible for a WA collector's plate.

Purpose built and bad ***. Welcome to 6speed. I have seen your car @ pelican.

You guys with the longhoods are not making my car buying choices any easier.
Right now I am up between a longhood track beast, an aircooled turbo "bare to the bones like ZLP's", or an outlaw 356.

Again...welcome aboard...cant wait for the read in Excellence. What issue will it be in?

Thanks guys, glad you like it

I tried to publish much of the build on Pelican and had several offers by staff writers to do an article in EXCELLENCE. But I wasn't really interested in the cookie cutter approach, basically a list of mods but not much in the way of passing on how they all went together and more importantly how the car really drives.

It was obvious from a few public posts and his writing Pete Stout was a big fan of Porsche and not just the new ones. Randy Wells had already been asked to do the photography and he is close by. I thought what the heck let's see if we can byppass the typical writeup and get Pete to drive the EXCELLENCE test loop in my car and good or bad take his impressions. It is a 900 mile drive to Novato for me so I had time to think about the results. Pete could have just as easily have ended up with a day out in my car and nothing flattering to write about...as in nothing...no article.

I was a bit nervious to be honest. The car took a lot of time. I thought it was pretty good but I wanted another opinion...straight up.

The article will be in the coming June 07 issue. If you want to really appreciate what can be done with mid year, short hood cars you'll want to sit down with a copy of the "Yellowbird" April '06 issue as well to compare the two articles. Pete, who is an exceptional driver, drove both cars over the same sections of northern California roads. The choosen "southern loop" was a couple hundred mile all day adventure with extremely varied requirements placed on the car. For the majority of the day I road along as a passenger in another car so Pete could get a full and uninterupted impression of my car.

Having driven so many modern (most every 911) , classic (73 RS among others) and icon cars (GT2, GT3s and CGT) over the same section of road makes Pete's driving impressions all that more interesting. If you are a fan of the older cars it is another good read and some great photos in EXCELLENCE.

Sweet! Nice write up by Excellence. I have not recieved that issue yet. Cant wait to see it again. Very nice car and sounds like you got it all right.

Think you just helped me make up my mind. I was planning on buying either a longhood conversion or aircooled turbo to go beside my SC, but now I am thinking that I would be alot happier if I just spent the money on the SC.

Dont be surprised if I come a calling for some help and info on my new project.
The only thing that makes me hesitate is the fact that I would be out of a fun car for awhile. I am not sure I could be without my toy for three years as you did.
