Advise on buying 993 Turbo S

Hi, looking to buy my dream car, a '97 993 TURBO S , and needed some advice from all the Porsche aficionados.

Was curious to the current market price? Has this car appreciated or depreciated in the last few years? Im planning on buying regardless and keeping forever so I don't mind if its worthless 15 years from now but would feel stupid if the value of the car dropped by more than a third in the next 15 months.

Need advice on how to go about buying '97 993 TURBO S. Do i go to a Porsche dealer, exotic cars dealer, online. Any suggestions on reputable sellers and would be very appreciated.

Found these listing online. Are these asking prices reasonable and are they scams? Can somebody share any experience with CATS EXOTICS, SLOAN and PURCHASING ON EBAY? Is it safe to buy on ebay? Is CATS EXOTICS and SLOAN's REPUTABLE DEALERSHIPs?

CATS EXOTICS is selling one for $169,888.00 on EBAY>

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...ht_6188wt_1167

SLOANS has a 1997 993 Turbo S Arctic Silver/Black 8,801 miles for $185,000.00
http://sloancars.com/566/1973-911s-s...lack-restored/

and 1997 993 Turbo S Black /Black 9,710 miles for $185,000.00

What questions should i be asking these sellers and what should i look for?
How does getting independent appraisals and inspections work. Anybody know where i can source these kinda service? Is it necessary?

Found this 1973 911S Silver/Black restored for $98,000. What do u guys think? http://sloancars.com/566/1973-911s-s...lack-restored/

Any advice and feedback would be extremely helpful. Thanks to all the rennlist members in advance.

You can't go wrong with Sloan's cars and Cats has a good reputation in the Lambo world so you are good there as well.
With a purchase such as this one I would buy the best lowest mileage car possible.
While the spread in value is significant, they are so rare that their value is dictated by the immediate market (not the last 6 months, year of 3 years) miles, color and condition of the car. Be prepared to drop $20k more at any given time for the perfect car and it will be worth it.

Man prices have rose quiet a bit. I remember my pops almost bought a silver red with full carbon interior with 8k miles for 111K like 5 years ago. He still gets pissed everytime he thinks about it.

I am considering selling my Turbo S (24,000 miles). It is in perfect mechanical condition and has been lovingly maintained. It was damaged in 1999 and repaired to prior condition. As a result, however, it does not command the premium of a Sloan car and is ideal for someone interested in driving 1 of 182.

I believe this one that just sold on ebay was a good deal at $115k:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=330481308078

I contacted the seller and confirmed everything was legit, owner even had a copy of a fresh ppi done at a porsche dealer. I just couldn't bring myself to buy another car that would sit in the garage and not be driven!
