Rearview Mirror with Home link

Hi Guys,
I was wondering if there is a rear-view mirror replacement for 996 that has built-in home link (similar to G35s)?

I found a product but not sure if it fits, is there any specific thing about Porsche mirror?

Thanks,

I am aware of that solution, but I think rear view mirror is a better one (better range).

Garge opener

There are many, myself included, that have snapped open one of the remotes that come with openers, and wired them to a porsche OEM switch (with little garage door on it) that fits in the blanks that hardtop 996TT consoles have for rear window switches.

See writeup here:

really, it's a 30 minute job with a very clean and finished look.

I just picked up a Gentex rearview mirror with a compass and homelink. It came with a VW adaptor and fit just fine. I have to wire it up, but if you google Gentex Porsche 996 you will find a link on rennlist with info. I am not sure if it is appropriate for me to post a link to the site that sells the mirror, so if you send me a PM I can send you the link. Even though Gentex does not make one for Porsche it fits fine with the VW adaptor.

Great info. So VW wedge mount is similar to that of Porsche. Thank you for the info. I really love it when guys chime in.

Thanks Again.

Just sent you a PM with the info. The VW/Audi adaptor slides on the factory mount allowing the aftermarket mirror to slide on. It required a little filing to fit perfectly and it has a set screw to allow it to mount up tightly. I just finished the install and now have an auto dimming mirror with home link and a compass. They also make a mirror that has a section for displaying a rearview camera - if I didn't already have that piped in to my Pioneer stereo, I would have gotten the mirror with that function and the home link instead.

What is part # of the unit you purchased? I'm assuming wiring is self-explanitory?

Go to www.radarmirror.com and they have several solutions. I have a Gentex auto-dimming mirror with Homelink installed in my C4S. They sell an adapter to allow you to mount their "wedge" style mirror on the cam lock mount found on Porsche windshields. It's a fantastic mod and I'm really happy I did it.

That's the one... I forgot the dash. If you contact Scott at www.radar-mirror.com, he'll hook you up.
