VR Tuned Review - 997.1 Turbo
I just wanted to share my experience with Dan at Vivid Racing and their VR Tune.
The Car:
2007 997.1 Turbo
6-speed manual
Current Performance Mods:
NHP catless exhaust from Maxspeed Motorsports
Why I chose the VR Tune:
There are a few things that I was looking for in a tune when I was shopping around. Price, Customer Service and ease of use. After doing some searching I narrowed it down to the Cobb Accessport and the VR Tune. The Cobb would be a great choice if you needed to change tunes while out on the road, but if you think about it, how often do we really need to change the tune on the fly. Also based on my positive experiences with Dan at Vivid, I decided to go with the VR Tune.
When the package arrive I was pleasantly surprised at the nice case that the unit and cable came in. Everything was there along with a line card that listed the location of the install instructions complete with videos and contact information for any technical support ( I did call once to ask a question and Dan picked up right away). The steps are quite simple:

My quick version:
- Download software to a laptop
- Turn car to on position (I also plugged in a battery tender as recommended)
- Download the current ECU file from the car
- Email that file to VR
- Wait patiently
- Receive tuned file from VR and feel like a kid at Christmas
- Load new file to the car
- Done
Once installed the first thing I noticed was my CEL from the catless exhaust was gone. Also the car idled just like stock, silky smooth. Cruising around feels just like stock, no issues at all. Once you step on the gas all bets are off. The car is an absolute monster. Boost comes on strong and pulls hard to redline. I did a bunch of runs and the car feels perfect. The tune really wakes the car up. When I get some free time I plan on getting some dyno numbers.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the tune and best of all I still have the original file from my car. So if any issues arise I can also go back to stock.
