Seatbelt installation pics (rough visual guide)
Ok, so I finished my seatbelt swap to the “guards red” ones (front and rear), and since while looking for a DIY on this, I couldn’t find one for the 997, and went ahead and snapped a few photos while doing the swap. This is only for visualization purposes. I’m not that great in writing up these things.
Before doing this, please remember to disconnect your battery. Even though I disconnected mine, I still got the Airbag light afterwards, so I need to take it in to get it reset.
TOOLS YOU NEED: Approx.
17mm socket wrench
17mm flat wrench
Torx T-20, T-40
Small flat head screwdriver or similar to pry with.
First, you need to remove the rear seats. As I already had them removed, it was a little easier for me. Next you will need to remove your Bose sound system speaker box if you have one.
Remove the seatbelt height adjuster on the pillar. This can be removed my pulling it off towards you. Its on there pretty tight so you might want to pull hard. The piece feels flimsy, but just make sure to pull straight off so you don’t break any clips.
First pic is with the plastic piece off, but I learned you can take the whole assembly off all in one shot(plastic cover still on). After removing this piece, unscrew the large 17mm bolt exposed.
Now, you will need to remove the rear side panels to expose the seatbelt assembly.
There is only one small torx screw, holding it, and the rest are clips and guides.
You will need a long torx screwdriver to access the screw on the panel. Once this screw is removed, gently start pulling off the panel from the top and then lift out and up. Remember to disconnect your speaker plug once you get access to it. The bottom of the panels have two large guides, Make sure not to pull from the bottom or you may break them.
Now that the panel is off, I put a pic of the panel from the inside just to show you where the clips and guides are, and to give you a better picture of the location of these things.
Remember to remove the green plug from the front seatbelt assembly when removing them. They are held in place by a large 17mm bolt.
Now for the rears. Remove the small plastic panel piece in the rear to expose the 17mm bolt that you will need to remove. This bolt is a little hard to get to, so I used a 17mm flat wrench. Replace the rear assembly as you did the front ones, and feed your new belts through. There are no electric plugs in the rear so you don’t have to worry about them.
That’s about it! I know this isn’t the greatest write up or DIY, but since I was in the middle of doing it while I decided to take some pics of the procedure, I hope it will at least help some people visualize the work that’s required.

Basalt997, you beat me to it. Nice job on the documentation. Belts look great! I wonder why you still got the seat belt warning light though. Positive rep as well.

Thanks guys. ///MJFDDS, lol i couldn't wait so i went ahead with them, and decided to snap a few photos in the process. It was actually a lot easier than i thought it would be. Did you get your belts in yet?
Ya, i got the airbag light on now. Even though i disconnected the battery before touching anything.

I have not had a moment to get them in as of yet. I am still wondering why you got a warning light. I guess I will see if that happens when I get mine in. I have Durametric though so I am not worried.
