OT...wow new 2011 Mustang GT at 412hp

for under $30k. If they can just get rid of the live axle which is on the way what a deal.

SRT8 weights more than 600lbs more than a 5.0L equipped Mustang with almost the same amount of hp. The Mustang will clean its clock.

+1 to that... I have always wanted a 'Stang. Now that they motor has been bumped... cant imagine what Paxton or Whipple will have in store for the new 5.0

Perhaps. May be. Still properly prepped Z06 will probably handle better.
I never had teenage crush on mustang, so, may be that is why I see nothing in this car. I am more miata/s2000 type of guy than mustang type. Would never crossed my mind to buy one.

I agree. There have been a couple of stock Mustangs at the local Autocross in recent months, and they do very well considering their less sophisticated design, and MUCH lower price point. While I personally don't want one, a lot of fun can be had for the money, and comparing them to a Porsche or Z06 is a little unfair.

Actually you probably can...The base premium GT is $28,995 and no one is paying MSRP on any car today. So if you keep the options to a minimum I do believe you can get one at or darn near $30k. Ford said the price of the 2011 GT isn't going to go up vs. the 2010 model which already had a price increase. Now you add the 14" brembos, electronics package and such and yet you are now looking at a $36k Mustang...still a heck of a bargain for a car that will run mid 12's and handle very well. Not to mention the huge aftermarket that is out there for the Mustang. One other thing, the 412hp is on 87 pump gas. FRPP is already stating there will be a kit out there with a 91 octane tune that can push hp close to 450hp. This is BMW M3 performance at a fraction of the cost.

Is the car a 997..no way its not. Its also a car that is less than half the price though.

Man I wish I bought Ford stock when it was just a $1.42 a share, its now over $9.
