Blackstone Results 2014 Diesel

Finally got around to posting these. Thought some of you might be interested in seeing oil test results. Yes, I ran the second change long. Sue me.

Looks like at 8,080 miles on this interval there was still some TBN (additive pack) left. This car sees a lot of town driving, I'd say probably 70% plus. And it's pretty friggin hot down here. Rarely sees cold, cold weather. I'd say 7,500 mile changes are fine on this engine.

So Porsche is correct in having a 5,000 miles oil change. 10,000 miles oil changes on a diesel may be stretching it a bit?

Looks that way.

Consider those miles are high heat, many short trips. So literally YMMV.

So, the third change ran a bit over my 7,500 mile target as well. Despite this, there was still some additive left. This may have to do with the fax that 2,500 miles of it was on a trip to CO so it was very light highway miles.

Extremely interesting to see the numbers over time on your new diesel.
Thanks for posting.

Not really knowing what it all means, it appears that potassium, molybdenum and iron have been running at slightly higher than average numbers.
It's pretty cool they provide a detailed explanation in order to help make sense of it all.
Although, they didn't really elaborate on the molybdenum yet...

Is the sample technique pretty easy, in order to minimize contamination and the size in which you submit?

Just to contribute ... here is my oil report from last June. I was towing my 997 to the track since Feb and had a few cases where my oil temp spiked to over 260 degF so I wanted to see if there was any telltale signs with the oil. As you can see from the report, all is good. BTW, mileage at that time was ~15,900 miles.
