FVD Brombacher - 4.0 L Conversion - Video, Dyno and Pictures!!

As many of you know FVD has been tuning Porsche’s for 27+ years now. But many of you don’t know that FVD Germany has been building engines in house for that same amount of time. There has been a lot of talk about 4.0L conversions but I just wanted to share our conversion with you by using pictures, dyno sheets and a video. Enjoy…

The pricing is currently being discussed and will be presented by a few racing shops with engine building experience. I will keep everyone posted.

Here are how our numbers stack up:

FVD Brombacher 4.0 L:
491 Hp = 366 kW - crank
353 lb. Ft = 478 Nm - crank

Factory GT3 RS 4.0 L:
494 Hp = 368 kW - crank
339 lb. Ft = 460 Nm - crank

Factory 997.2 GT3 RS:
450 Hp = 331 kW - crank
317 lb. Ft = 430 Nm - crank

Factory 997.2 GT3:
435 Hp = 320 kW – crank
317 lb. Ft = 430 Nm – crank

Thanks,
Rhonda

Good job. Keep us up to date on the long term progress of the engine and how it holds up on the track and street.

Troy, Thanks for the kind words. We will certainly keep everyone up to date on the long term progress of the motor. We went to great lengths to ensure reliability and street ability with this kit. Our customer in Germany races in pistenclub.de events. As you can see from the link to the Pistenclub.de event list, the car will certainly put through its paces and has been designed to handle everything the owner can throw at it.

Thanks. Does this mean stock crankshaft and stroke are retained, with displacement increase achieved through increased bore?

Rhonda, can you post links to keep track of track miles of the first customer and maybe the first few of the next build cars?

I think these motors make most sence to the guys who track a lot and I would love to find out how many track miles and OEM 3.8 and 4.0 are good for versus the custom built FVD 4.0.

It will take time to pile on the miles, but in about 24 months many 3.8's will be running out of warranty and might need an excuse to refresh :-)
