OK, not sexy or high performance....but its those little things in life which make a difference....especially at $4.00/gal and a daily commute

How the hell are you getting 25mpg? The highest mine has gone to is 18.2 with me driving extremely gently.

Josh.

MPG secrets

I have noticed a significant difference using ECO mode - up to 2 mpg increase.

I also noticed improved mileage after 2500 miles or so.....I am at 8200 now, and the car runs better than ever.

I use cruise control whenever I can - normally I am at 65 to 70 on the freeway.

My commute where I get 25 mpg includes over the hill on 17 into Si valley:

If I take other routes that are twisty and windy and more fun, I get 17 to 22 mpg, depending on my mood

What is ECO mode exactly?

I have a 5 min commute to work every day and am never on the fwy more than once a month so that accounts for my mpg.

I got 25+ mpg when I used to commute 30 Fwy miles to work. Now that I don't need to commute, my mpg stays in 14 to 17 range.

5 min short trip is not enough time to warm up your oil temp, which is bad for your mpg and engine. Maybe you should drive around your office several times to heat up the oil.
