Twin turbo Spider Raod trip done....
The GOOD news is we shaved 1700 miles off the total...
the bad news is we didn't get out of the state of Florida!
The first 400 miles were a blast running with an S7 (in heavy traffic)
creaming a TT porsche several times and just general fun running with boost engaged routinely.
There was SEVERE weather..hail,heavy thunderstorms etc about 50 miles from where the
turbo quit anyhow.
Then Bernard says..."hey we are making NO BOOST NOW"... we stopped..called Jason..he had me
listening at the tailpipes immediately after shiutdown to hear if the turbos were still spinning..
well LEFT one WASN'T.
I tried to find Bernard but he was engaged in heavy conversation with 2 young hoties in a Corvette!!!!
I'm trying see what the problem with the car is and he is dealing with misplaced priorities (or maybe
they aren't so misplaced?????)
Anyhow I wanted to just drive the car to California as is.
Jason advised STRONGLY against this saying "at some point the bad turbo will begin blowing massive amounts of oil
and you don't want to be in bum nowhere when that happens"
Bernard had not interest in driving a Gallardo WITHOUT turbos anyhow!!!!!
Bottom line we turned around and drove it at the usual 90-100 mph back to Sarasota.
Bernard dropped me in TAMPA i stayed in an hotel and caught flight to Cal today.
Heffner is of course having Garrett replace the Turbo via overnight .
He paid for my hotel and return flight.
Not his fault the turbo failed. Hell I put 14000 miles on a pair of these same units on TT#1..
It was disappointing as both Bernard and I are goal oriented types.
We didn't get to complete the run but I enjoyed meeting him, rolling with him and just general good comadre.
Would i try it again?.... hell yes but for now the car is going to be on a truck because I can't
spare any more time waway from the Business.
Bernard sent me some photos and stuff to my store I'll post tgem tomorrow.
Bernard said he would love to go cross country with me......with all the women the car
attracts he felt certain since I was so ugly He'd do just fine!!!!!

Bummer that we had to bail, but we made the right call. About 5 miles from home, the bad turbo started leaking oil into the exhaust, which makes for smoke!
Wayne, it was a pleasure meeting you, and sharing driving duties in your incredible TT Spyder!

Sad story but glad everything is getting worked out. I would love a ride in that bad boy!
Sounds like Heffner and Co. are pretty good about their customers though. My buddy has a TT Viper produced by them, whicked fast!
Were you guys affiliated with the S7 or was that just a sheer strike of luck you ran into him?
