More official news from Porsche
I was at the collection today. A representative from Porsche Cars of North America was updating the sales force of upcoming changes.
1. The GT3 will have shift paddles, and an the HP will be increased to 400hp.
2. The new 997 Turbo will be hitting the showrooms by this time next year, but very few allocations per dealer. The turbo will have 470 HP and the X50 version will have 525 HP.
*the only item that will be decided very shortly will be if the Turbo will have sequential shifter (paddles)standard or if it will be offered as a option.
3. Panamera will have two versions a non turbo with 400hp or a X50 with 500 HP. It will be Model year 2008 and orders will not be taken until 2007. They are speculating that the non turbo will be in the area of 130K and the turbo around 175K.
The Panamera Turbo will have ceramic brakes, 20" wheels, sequential shifter.

"Not initially" being the x50.

Unfortunately, I agree. The 997TT will probably kick out around 460-470hp. I can' t forsee it hitting 500hp in all honesty. Even with a 3.8L, Porsche will want to maintain the reliability aspect of the 911 turbo and not push the engine to the upper limits (not initially at least).
For those that argue about the 500hp C6 Z06, that is a 7.0L engine. That's going to be hard to compete with and still maintain the normal reliability. I guess we'll see, but my thoughts are upper 400s.

Paddle shifters is sounding kind of cool. 470 hp is sounding kind of dissapointing. Unless the looks are something ground breaking, maybe our 996TT will hold value a little better than expected. Is it worth dumping a 1 year old 996TT for VW bug head lights plus 50 hp.
When you say paddle shift, are we also taking no torque converter.

Guys,
Sorry thats all the info I have. Also, speaking the rep, he says that chances are with the small allocations we wont be seeing these cars for at least a year and half. They are going to be very rare for a while.

wow and SMG or DSG type would be awesome... I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have mentioned "paddle shifters" if he meant Tiptronic automatic. I don't think Porsche would've developed a 2nd type of automatic either.
