1300 hp 996 911 Turbo Spins Out… At 180mph

After watching so many of these super high-speed, airstrip races, it’s easy to lull yourself into a false sense of confidence. The cars look so stable from the outside as the whizz along at nearly 200mph. They aren’t of course. Well, they’re about as stable as anything else designed to put 1300 horsepower to pavement through a tiny patch of rubber. Sometimes things don’t go as planned.

BBI Automotive got a little taste of that at the Texas Invitational in their tuned 996 911 Turbo. The car is called King Kong, which is appropriate for two reasons really. The owner is one Kong Chang, for one. The other reason is the power. With over 1,300 horsepower in the trunk, King Kong isn’t really overselling the performance at all.

Like beast himself, this 911 will not be tamed. Watch it slip from control at 180mph below.
