1971 Nissan Skyline

Ever wondered where the current Godzilla gets its pedigree from? Behold the original Skyline 2000GTR Hakosuka.

An automotive icon comparable to the likes of a Shelby Mustang in America, or Jaguar E-Type in Europe, the Skyline was born to compete at the Japanese Grand Prix series, and it won over 40 races upon its debut in 1970, which immortalized the GTR across Asia, and later on, the world through the Gran Turismo video game.

This Hakosuka edition proves to be extra special, as it’s derived directly from the factory racing team, and less than a thousand units were produced. It features a race-ready S20 engine, with dual overhead camshafts, a cross-flow head with four valves per cylinder, and a hemispherical combustion chamber fed by triple dual-throat Mikuni-Solex side-draft carburetors.

The auction house claims that this particular model belonged to a famous JDM collector in the United States, and it’s only a two owner car, with a popular Le Mans Japanese race car driver being one of them.

There is currently no estimate for how much this 1971 Nissan Skyline 2000GTR Hakosuka will bring, but something tells me it won’t be cheap!
