First generation A5 impresses with it’s dead-on stance and insanely artistic looking vinyl wrap.

As German coupes go, the original Audi A5 was an instant home run from the moment it was unveiled way back in 2007. The first generation A5 (known internally as the Type 8T) was based on a B8-family platform and built on the Volkswagen MLB architecture. Based on the Nuvolari Quattro concept, the A5 was revealed alongside it’s high performance S5 stablemate at the Genevas auto show. Early U.S.-spec A5s were available with a 3.2-liter V6 and either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed Tiptronic automatic.

It’s not surprising that the A5 has become quite popular in the tuning scene, especially since prices for the luxury coupe have dropped considerably, making them an even more appealing car to customize. It’s handsome lines and typically Teutonic proportions make it an ideal model to lower with whatever your chosen method is and then bolt up some stylish aftermarket wheels. Instagram user Ben, who goes by the IG handle thatbaggeda5, has spent a few years modifying his 2011 A5. Though the car has evolved over the years like most projects, it’s current setup is stunning to say the least.

The Audi’s curvy bodywork has a vinyl wrap worthy of an art museum. Its a little abstract, a little psychedelic and a lot of cool. The large cargo container mounted to A5’s roof has also received the same style wrap and the whole aesthetic approach comes together nicely. The car has been lowered thanks to an Airlift Performance air bag suspension that replaced the stock mechanical bits that the Audi left the factory with. The wheels on the car are some gorgeous mesh design alloys from Rotiform that fill out the slammed Audi’s wheel arches to perfection.

Ben’s IG account documents the evolution that his A5 has undergone over the years. Before the crazy wrap it has now, the Audi sported an eye-catching, iridescent paint job that alternated between purple, blue, brown and a number of other shades. While that look suited the Audi flanks quite nicely, we’re digging the current look he’s given the car.
