Sexy. That’s the one word that strikes us every time we look at McLarens latest: the MP4-12C Spider. The coupe is a handsome car on it’s own, but the design really shines through when the top goes down. Photos only tell part of the story, though. McLaren has seen fit to fill us in on the rest with this two minute promo video featuring their newest star.
The car was designed as a convertible initially, so they haven’t had to add any bracing for added rigidity. In fact, they’ve only added 88 lbs thanks to the folding hard-top roof. Even with that, it’s lighter than Ferrari’s Italia by about 100lbs. They’re fairly even rivals. They feature similar power, handling capabilities, they even have a similar shape. As much as we love power-slidey promo videos, we’d love to see these street-going F1 cars duke it out. Preferably, on the streets on Monaco.
