2013 Porsche Cayman Unveiled at LA Auto Show
The whole car is less radically designed, less aggressive, and a little bit more rotund. This is true especially around the rear arches. It looks a lot more like the Carrera, even though Porsche enthusiasts aren’t likely to get the two models confused. But that’s all that is surface-level; here’s what matters:
Like the new Boxster, the new Cayman is just plain bigger. It’s a longer car than the old model with a wider wheel base and wider tires. What it is not, is heavier. Porsche has managed to extend the Cayman’s foot print while making it lighter and faster. The base model will still be equipped with the 2.7 liter 275hp flat-six and the Cayman S will still have the 3.4 liter, 325hp flat-six. With the PDK, the base model will get from 0-60 in a hair past over 5 seconds, while the Cayman S will do it 4.4 seconds.
If you’re looking to upgrade to the new hotness, you’ll have to wait until Spring of next year. The Cayman will go on sale at $52,600 and the Cayman S will go on sale at $63,800.
