The 2017 Lamborghini Aventador S is Here!

I have a confession to make, and it is not one that normally goes over well. It is my humble opinion that the Lamborghini Aventador is the best looking Lamborghini of all time. Yes I know the Countach exists. And yes, I also know the Miura exists. However, there is something special about the Aventador  that just…does it. I mean, find me a better bedroom wall poster and prove me wrong.

And for 2017 Lamborghni has brought to the world the Aventador S, an updated, improved version of the car I love so dearly. Did they make it better looking? Not really, not in any drastic way, at least. But what they did do is improve some crucial aspects of the car’s performance capabilities.

The S increases horsepower to a more-than-you-could-ever-need 740, which happens to be the same figure for the Aventador SV. The engine also has an increased redline, now set to a glorious 8,500 rpm, all from the same naturally-aspirated 6.5 liter V12.

Other improvements include a new four-wheel steering system and “significantly enhanced suspension and electronics,” whatever that means. Lamborghini claims that all these new improvements help the car to hit 60 in a brisk 2.9 seconds. Good. The only updates that should be done to Lamborghinis are ones that make an already insane car even more insane and on the edge.

V12 Lamborghinis tend to stick around for quite some time, and you can surely expect more to come from the Aventador lineup. The Murcielago graced us with it’s presence for 10 years. The Aventador S may not end up being the ultimate version of the Aventador, but is seems like a technological step toward the future, perhaps helping to quiet those that say the car is a bit too barbarian.

Everyone’s a critic.
