2018 Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid May Be the Best Porsche
Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid brings Porsche 918-like performance to a massive luxury sedan.
Of course, that performance doesn’t care if you opted for the “normal” Panamera, or the heavier, extended-wheelbase model. We at 6SpeedOnline always look forward to new episodes of Matt Farah’s “One Take” series on his TheSmokingTire channel. Perhaps it’s the fact that he constantly mixes things up, featuring old-school rides, tuners, exotics, and even brand-spanking-new hypersedans (is that a thing?). If that is a thing this 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid ticks all the right boxes.
That’s a pretty long name for a car, but it doesn’t even tickle the length of the options list for this bad boy. For starters, this isn’t “just” the Turbo S trim, but the electrified E-Hybrid model. That means 136 electrified horsepower have been added to the 4.0-liter, 550-horsepower twin-turbocharged V8. The total horsepower you may ask? A dizzying 680 horsepower. On a sedan, yes.
Adding to the long, and honestly quite ridiculous, list of specifications are an eight-speed PDK2 transmission, 10-piston carbon ceramic brakes, rear-steering, and a plethora of driving modes. Matt does an excellent job at explaining the different settings, which range from electric only, gas only, and several modes to recharge the battery or make the Panamera work just like a Prius. Yes, because that’s what you do with a Porsche, apparently.
The cost of all this insane technology? The specific price of the test car isn’t revealed, but it’s certainly north of $215,000 bucks. Oh, and did we mention Porsche claims this Panamera can do 0-60 mph in only 3.4 seconds? Well, now we did.
Enjoy the show!
