Your bedroom wall poster supercars are all in a race for a briefcase of cash.

The 1980s were a wild time for supercars. Coming out of the oil crisis of the 1970’s many manufactures were turning to style and performance to capture sales. This made for the most incredible line up of supercars. These were the days before traction control, dual clutch transmissions or stability control. The last of the gunslingers type of supercars. To own and drive one of these angry machines took a huge wallet and a serious amount of skill behind the wheel.

European supercars of the 1980s could not have been more diverse. Aston Martin’s Vantage was from the late 1970s and was a car James Bond would be happy to drive today. It has classic Aston styling with a throaty V8 up front, a manual transmission in the middle, and rear-wheel drive out back. It is like a Mustang in a Tuxedo.

Lamborghini on the other hand has the iconic Countach, which is from the 1970s as well. They kept adding power and styling to the already crazy wedge design.

Ferrari in, typical style, one-ups Lamborghini with the insane styling of the flat 12-powered Testarossa.

Of course, the craziest of all is the calm looking one in the corner. The RUF CTR Yellowbird is based on a conservative narrow-body Porsche 911, but it is the fastest of all. Hitting a top speed of 213 mph, the bright yellow RUF is an absolute monster.
