Porsche’s 911 Turbo S Cabriolet is basically a topless guided missile set to fun and excitement. This car has so much power that it can be steered with the rear wheels. Remember the old GT2? The 911 Turbo Cab has a top speed that is just shy of that of the GT2, and it can get you from a standing stop to sixty in three seconds.

Porsche didn’t scrimp on the luxury and style on the interior, either. At close to $200,000 per copy, it has a styling and quality in the interior that will put most other cars to shame. As beautiful as the stuff coming out of Porsche headquarters in Zuffenhausen is, the price tags are a bit on the steep side.

Looking at the Powerplants

For just about $200k you get a Porsche equipped with a 3.8-liter flat six equipped with twin turbos. This beast pumps out 560 horses and twists out 553 foot-pounds of torque and is backed by a seven-speed transmission with dual clutches.

Shifting happens quickly and with a surgeon’s precision. Fuel economy is an impressive 17 around town and 24 on the highway, better if you don’t push it much.

The Jaguar relies on a much bigger engine to provide motive power-a five liter supercharged V8 pumping out 495 horsepower and 460 foot-pounds of torque.

With lower output numbers, zero to sixty speed suffers-it’ll take you over four seconds in the Jaguar F-Type V8 S. The big V8 is backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission. Where the Jag really shines is the price tag: It’s less than half that of the Porsche.

The Porsche also beats the Jaguar when it comes to interiors. Sure, the Jag is well-appointed, but the leather seating doesn’t have the finely-crafted suppleness of the Porsche seats, and there’s far too much plastic in use for a $100k car.

The Porsche seats also beat those in the Jag for adjustability, with the Porsche driver seat being available with an 18-way control.

Both driver’s cabins are beautiful, but the Porsche engineers and design specialists pulled out all the stops, while it seems that the people in England were holding back.

One of the biggest problems with the Porsche is that you’re basically driving a supercar, but it looks like pretty much any other Porsche 911 out there. That’s too bad, because this Porsche is much more Porsche than the rest.
