991 Carrera S Fends Off 2013 GT-R in Head2Head Comparison
No introduction is needed here. Porsche’s 991 is the benchmark for sports cars, still. That’s even after the GT-R has made it’s mark as being equally as capable of carving corners, albeit through slightly different means. Porsche uses it’s light and agile chassis in combination with it’s classical drive-train layout. Nissan’s 2013 GT-R has different strategy: brute force. That’s 540hp of turbo charged grunt, and an AWD system built for the explicit purpose of chasing Porsches.
Despite it’s power advantage, the GT-R and the 911 S stand on equal footing otherwise. They have similar track times. Similar prices. They serve the audience of people who want a sports car that won’t spontaneously burst into flame. They’re both fast, but difference has always been in how they achieve that speed. For someone that loves driving, “the how”, is a really important part of the equation.
Road and Track have dived into the comparison between Porsche and Nissan’s latest in this episode of Head2Head. Both cars are well worth your hard earned scratch, no one is debating that. The question is, which one is the better fit for your driving style. Also, which one is the fastest around the track. For bragging rights.
