Spy shots are nice and all, but actually getting to see the new Turbo 911 slicing it’s way around the Nürburgring is so much better. It’s not like the driver is pussy footing it either. There are a couple moments where it’s obvious that the pilot is driving hard. My favorite is the bit about 40 seconds in when he gets a little loose on entry before he bangs it off the rev limiter through the corver exit. Sweet.
The new 991 will be both lighter, more powerful, and longer than the outgoing model. More than likely, it’ll be sporting a triple turbo setup similar to the type being used by BMW. A smaller turbo will provide low-end torque while the two larger ones provide enhanced power throughout the rev range. All that boost should yield around 525bhp; that’s a marked improvement over the 495hp from the 997 Turbo.
