997 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Is Picture Perfect
Road cars don’t get much better than the 997-gen Porsche 911 GT2 RS. And this might be the best of its rare breed.
Now that we have a brand new, king-of-the-hill Porsche 911 GT2 RS to drool over, it’s easy to forget the equally amazing 997-gen model. But even though this particular car is now seven years old, it’s still more than capable of running with just about anything on the road today. This is also likely the nicest 997 Porsche 911 GT2 RS in existence, thanks to a rather low odometer reading of just 4,500 miles. And now, this picture perfect Porsche is headed to RM Sotheby’s Monterey auction on August 24.
Fans of the last-gen 911 GT2 RS will certainly have a hard time finding a better example of the breed. Not just because of the low mileage, but also because this is one of just 500 build worldwide and 142 sold in America. For that, you get a car that’s faster around the legendary Nurburgring than cars like the Carrera GT and Bugatti Veyron 16.4. All courtesy of a 620 hp flat-six and svelte 3,175 pound curb weight.
Pound for pound, you certainly won’t find many more capable road cars, even today. And this Silver Metallic over black GT2 RS is as stunning to look at as it is to drive. This one’s also got some nice options in the form of adaptive sports seats with a leather and Alcantara mix, Alcantara steering wheel, black center lock wheels, and PCM navigation system. The only deviation from stock is an aftermarket exhaust, but we won’t deduct points for that.
Over the last several years, this particular Porsche 911 GT2 RS has traveled precious few miles by the hands of three owners. Which is hard to believe given the amazing driving experience it presents. But now, this stunning ride is getting its third chance at such an opportunity!
