Abandoned Lamborghini Miura Collection Heads to Auction

Abandoned Lamborghini Miura is just one of a vast collection of downright breathtaking classics rotting away for decades.

Yes, you read that title. An abandoned Lamborghini Miura may only come to light once in a lifetime. Obviously, as time rolls on, it’s an occurrence that will only get more rare. Make no mistake, though, this case study is very real. Moreover, this isn’t just one Miura. It’s three. Rather, it’s three and a half.

It all stems down to a man named Rudi Klein. RM Sotheby’s is set to auction off his collection of cars and components on October 26th, 2024. Among them are three different Miuras, a devastatingly rare Merecedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, and dozens of Porsche 356s. That is not an exaggeration. Dozens.

Why Are These Cars Abandoned?

These cars are all in the possession of Porche Foreign Auto in Los Angeles, California. No, that isn’t a typo. The name was intentionally misspelled to avoid any sort of legal issues with Porsche. It was a specialist junkyard that focused on rare cars. Rumor has it that the price points for the components were quite costly. However, Rudy Klein, the founder and late owner of the company, knew what he had. Where else are you going to find secondhand parts for your Lamborghini Miura?

The three Miuras are in varying condition and are expected to sell for a range of $350,000 to $700,000. That is a bit cheaper than one might expect of a Miura at this point. However, it is worth remembering that this is a junkyard. These cars don’t currently run and haven’t for who knows how long.

From our perspective, though, the craziest offerings in the Miura department aren’t the cars themselves. One that really boggles the mind is the Miura S V12 engine with a basket full of parts that casually sat out in the SoCal sun. The showstopper, though, is undoubtedly the 1969 Volkswagen Transporter, that has a 1968 Lamborghini Miura front chassis and clip. Yes, they are being sold together. You want the Miura parts? You buy the Volkswagen. It’s that simple.

Take Some Time to Check This Out. Seriously.

We’ve been sitting and daydreaming of hopping over to Porche Foreign Auto and touring the place before this auction happens. Unfortunately, that will likely have to remain a pipe dream. However, some of our favorite automotive YouTube sensations, like Tavarish and Magnus Walker, have toured this amazing collection.

We highly recommend taking some time to click and scroll through the massive collection of 208 auction lots. This is likely the last time we’ll ever see a collection of cars of this caliber all in one place. Soak it in. You’re living through automotive history.
