Patrick Dempsey to return to racing alongside Patrick Long for the Porsche Endurance Challenge North America series

Long-time Porsche enthusiast, actor, and racing driver Patrick Dempsey will return to motorsport for the new Porsche Endurance Challenge North America series. His eagerly anticipated return will see him hit the track under the Dempsey-Wright Motorsports team name. Needless to say, Patrick Dempsey seems excited to be back in the driver’s seat.

“Racing is like an addiction,” said Dempsey. “Once you start, it’s hard to stop. Having an opportunity to get back with John Wright and his team, I realized how much I was missing the culture and really wanted to get back in.”

Volker Holzmeyer, the CEO and President of Porsche Motorsport North America thinks the challenge is a spectacular way for Porsche owners to prepare for hallowed races. “This is a perfect opportunity for drivers to get more racing time in Porsche equipment they already own; to gain endurance racing experience without most of the cost, and stresses, associated with other series.”

“Here, the driver is the focus and that allows the greatest opportunity to learn the skills needed to race at Daytona or Sebring,” Holzmeyer said of the challenge. Of course, some fans will undoubtedly fixate on the return of the “Gray’s Anatomy” star to motorsport. Dempsey may race at Road America, Sonoma Raceway, and the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) between August and November.

However, the duo won’t be taking to the track in a 911 GT3 Cup. Instead, Patrick Dempsey and Patrick Long will drive a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, per Sportscar365. Moreover, the 718 Cayman race car will feature a livery paying homage to the 1998 GT1-98 Le Mans winner.
