ALMS-2013-VIR
Even though the most iconic tree in North American motor sports fell to the ground in early July of this year, the next ALMS event will keep its name.  A thirty-five car field will take the green flag at Virginia International Raceway for the Oak Tree Grand Prix this weekend.

In P1, Muscle Milk/Pickett Racing already clinched the championship. Now, all eyes are on the most dominant team in the ALMS to see if they can make it, a record, eight consecutive victories.  Dyson Racing needs just twenty-two points, over the next two races, to take second place away from, now absent, Rebellion Racing.

In P2, Extreme Speed Motorsports will need a lot of luck to break the four race win streak of Level 5 Motorsports.

In the PC Class, twenty points covers the top four cars. CORE Autosport is now trailing PR1 Mathiasen by eight points after finishing outside of the points at the Circuit of the Americas.  BAR1 Motorsports and Performance Tech Motorsports have finished consistently enough to keep themselves alive in the points standings.

In the Battle for the GT championship, everything seems to be going right for Corvette Racing, who have won five of the last eight races.  Both SRT Motorsports and BMW Team RLL are still within striking distance of the GT points lead, and VIR looks to be a track where the nimble BMW’s may have a slight advantage over the heavier, larger displacement cars.  Team Corvette would have to have an uncharacteristic bad weekend to give the Vipers or BMW’s a chance at the top spot.

In GTC, Flying Lizard Motorsports have only a ten point lead over Alex Job racing. NGT Motorsport is ready to gain any points they can should either of the leading teams falter. Just twenty points cover the top three places.
