Red Bull Gives Aston Martin Wings

We’ve received some rather interesting and delightful news from the Aston Martin camp. It’s the announcement of a concept car called the AM-RB 001 and that RB stands for Formula 1’s Red Bull racing team. The goal is to create an Aston Martin hypercar that combines Aston Martin’s designers with Red Bull’s technical prowess. The technical engineering side of Red Bull would help with composites and aero while Aston Martin tackles a “naturally aspirated V12 engine.” The press release says that motor would be powerful enough to propel it to a 1:1 power to weight ratio for horsepower per kilogram.

Despite the connection with Formula 1, there’s utterly no mention at all of hybrid technology in this car. Seeing that Koenigsegg has had to go the route of supercharging for their One:1 supercar, the “high-revving” V12 in this one will be absolutely bonkers. Mechanical details are still a bit murky, but some initial renderings have been released. The renderings have a look that is heavily styled by aerodynamics. Multiple elements are built into the front bumper and deeply sculpted side pods ensure that airflow over the back half of the car is optimized. As a bonus, it looks absolutely stunning. We can’t wait to find out more developments.
