Aston Martin Vantage Pushed to Its Limits on Track

By -

The new Aston Martin Vantage is certainly a beautiful car. But does the performance back up those good looks?

When the brand new Aston Martin Vantage dropped mere months ago, it was jaw-dropping, needless to say. Of course, we’re used to being treated to drool-worth machinery from the legendary British automaker. But the new Vantage is something special indeed, even by their lofty standards. Sure, it might not sport the familiar V12 under the hood, but sometimes dropping a few cylinders isn’t such a bad thing.

Especially when the new 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 pumps out 503 hp and 505 lb-ft of torque. Which is good enough to propel the Aston Martin Vantage to 60 in just 3.6-seconds. Top speed? An impressive 195 mph. So you better believe that when YouTuber Petrol Ped got the spontaneous invite to drive one at Silverstone, he didn’t think twice. Of course, it didn’t hurt that he got to drive to the track in a new DB11, either.

Obviously, we know the new Aston Martin Vantage is a gorgeous thing. But the real question is, what does it drive like on a proper track? Well first, our host has to sit in the passenger seat for a few “instructional” laps. Which has to be the equivalent of torture. But then, finally, he gets to see how this new Aston feels at speed.

For starters, it sounds glorious. And according to our host, “it’s a really confidence-inspiring car to drive fast.” Apparently, the electronic nannies aren’t too intrusive, either. Steering feel and brakes are excellent. And after a few spirited laps, our host is nearly at a loss for words. He calls the Aston Martin Vantage a “stunning car,” one that provided a “magical” day. And hey, that’s as good as recommendations get, isn’t it?
