Is Audi Developing a R8 GT3 RS Fighter?
What are you? What is this? How can I get one? I figure if I ask enough either Audi or the Internet will tell me. This was spied around the Nürburgring recently, and it appears to be a heavily camouflaged Audi R8.
We know that there is a brand new R8 coming very soon that will use the same architecture as the new Lamborghini Huracan, but this doesn’t appear to be that car or indeed a mule for the new car’s engine development. No, this appears to be very much in the same vein as a Porsche GT3 RS.
From the pictures one thing is clear, that’s a big wing. The wing on the back isn’t the normal integral unit that deploys at speed, but rather a fully adjustable static rear wing giving the car increased down force.
Add carbon ceramic brakes and what appears to be a full cage inside the car, and the ingredients are all there for a serious performer.
Audi is definitely staying mum about the project but I can’t see waiting too long to hear what this car actually is since the new R8 is set to arrive this upcoming year.
Maybe this is a last hurrah for Audi and the original R8? Maybe it’s some track hunting monster with the V10 turned up to 11? I just can’t wait to see it in the flesh.
