Behold the Drop-Dead-Gorgeous Mazda MX-5 Retractable Fastback
Mazda pulled the veil on its latest creation, and I’m pretty sure I’m speaking for many, when I say that it’s absolutely gorgeous!
Say Hello to the new 2017 Mazda MX-5 RF, which stands for Retractable Fastback, or as you and I know it, a Targa top. The iconic little roadster has been a primarily a soft-top model since its debut in 1989, but Mazda’s designers aimed at keeping the flair of the soft-top Miata, while evoking a seductive and functional retractable hardtop design. Well, they’ve succeeded.
See it in action:
No word yet on how much the top weighs, as allocating a heavy hardtop at the highest center of gravity, could have negative handling consequences. Though I’m sure that Mazda is more than aware of this and has an ace up its sleeve.
Sadly, there are no plans for increasing horsepower figures on the Mazda MX-5 Retractable Fastback (that we know of), but that’s okay, because this little roadster is pure fun.
