Bentley Conceptualizing RWD Continental GT3-R
Whether you want it or not, whenever you buy a new Bentley, you’re always going to get an AWD system. Whether it’s a Continental, a Flying Spur, or a Mulsanne, AWD is now the norm for Bentley. However, the company has some plans to rework that mantra a bit with the new Continental GT3-R.
Last year, Bentley introduced the new GT3-R to the world. It was a stripped out Continental that drew inspiration from the company’s GT3 racecar. However, it didn’t sacrifice the real world amenities that Bentley owners have come to appreciate.
That said, Bentley’s design boss was hopeful that they’d be able to shed more weight before the car was launched by stripping the heavy AWD system. That didn’t exactly work out, although it’s apparently now back on the table.
According to Rolf Frech, Bentley’s chief engineer, the company has a concept in mind that would be RWD and weigh quite a bit less than the already insane GT3-R. Let’s just hope the concept makes it to production in addition to the amazing EXP10 Speed 6 Concept as well.
