Bankrupt Bertone is Gone But Not Forgotten (Video)
When you think of classic 60s and 70s supercar design language, you inevitably think of Bertone. Over their 100 year history, the design house worked with BMW, Ferrari, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Lamborghini, Maserati, Volvo and Jaguar.
Cars such as the ’62 Ferrari 250 GT SWB, or the newer Aston Martin Rapide Sportbrake. Both of which are unbelievably beautiful, but neither can compare aesthetically to the company’s most famous work, the Lamborghini Miura. Or my favorite Bertone creation, the Stratos.
While the company has been penning designs that make most weak in the knees throughout its history and commanding top dollar, in March of this year, Bertone entered bankruptcy hearings. The company tried to drum up investors to save itself, but now as of last week, Bertone officially has gone bankrupt.
Many current and former employees indicate that there was a massive mismanagement of assets over the past decade that has led the company to financial ruin.
According to Leftlanenews, Bertone amassed around $42 million in debt. Maybe in the future we will see the famed design house rise from the ashes and begin to pen lust-worthy machines once again, but for now, the company is no more.
