Black on Black with a Ski Rack: Jon Olsson’s Audi R8

X Games gold medalist, freestyle, and alpine ski super-star Jon Olsson, is responsible for this slab of obsidian hotness. If it looks a little bit different from your average german V10 super-car, it should. Olsson handed  his R8 over to German tuning house PPI, where they (probably) performed unspeakable acts under the cover of darkness. The result is a car transformed, a Darth Vader on wheels.

Black isn’t just the theme here, it’s the rule. From the headlights to the wheels, it’s all glossy black. In this case, the glossiness is a boon, as the reflections from the snow pick up on the paint. It constantly looks like it’s driving around a showroom. What the color does hide, is the body kit. The carbon fiber wide-body kit weighs in at a feather light 600 grams.

PPI didn’t leave that wicked V10 alone, however. It’s upgraded and rated at 659 horsepower. Combined with the lowered weight, the car has a power-to-weight ratio equal to a R8 LMS Racecar. You’d be forgiven for thinking that all the performance would be waster in the snow, but PPI also saw fit to reinforce the front wing. I believe that makes this the fastest snow plow in the entire world.

The real kicker is the ski box. Not only is it lined with alacantra, but it has built in ski-boot heaters. Not only is it blast to drive, but it’ll keep your tootsies warm before setting off down the mountain. Pure. Function.
