BMW M5 and Porsche Panamera GTS Go Head2Head

If you’re looking to drop around $100,000 dollars and run 12s, your options are actually pretty diverse (there’s the 911, ZR1, Viper, etc.). But if you want to do that while chauffeuring your spouse, three children and luggage without resorting to a roof rack… Well, your options shrink a little bit. BMW’s M5 is well suited for this purpose, as is Porsche’s Panamera GTS. So, naturally, the first thing to do is put them in a drag race.

That’s MotorTrend’s line of thought, anyway, and they don’t hesitate to get right down to it in this comparison. Each car has it’s own advantages. The Beamer costs several thousand dollars less than the Porsche, has more power, and a traditional (fun) RWD layout. The Porsche has a slick AWD system and a lighter curb weight. Speed an specs are fun to compare on paper, but as you’ll see, numbers aren’t everything.
