Bugatti So Naughty: The Galibier 16C Teased
In profile, it looks a little like a Bentley Continental cut with Veyron, but the similarities end there. It looks incredibly long. Under the hood beats the W16 heart that powered the Bugatti Veyron. Unlike the Veyron, however, this version features twin superchargers instead of the quad turbos. Bugatti says the change will yield better torque from the 8 litre lump. Which is phenomenal, because if there was anything the Veyron was lacking before, it was definitely torque.
The front end looks a lot like a face, and the headlights are designed to mimic the appearance of human eyes. We like the look, but this also means that the Galibier can wear a smug countenance without the help of it’s owner. If could speak it would probably say something like “Oh, you have how much horse power? That’s adorable,” before disappearing at 300 mph. The hood is also an extremely elegant as well. Motorized actuators lift it open similarly to the wings of a butterfly. It’s not a functional at all, frankly. But it does look amazing, and it frames the bespoke W16 beautifully.
The interior is, of course, sumptuous. Endless leather, fine embroidery, and roughly an rain-forest’s worth of wood, make it seem like a nice place to be. But what makes it different is the incredible attention to detail. For instance, the clock. You can remove it from the dashboard and slip it into a space on your limited-edition Bugatti wrist strap. Really, it’s the ultimate in flash. Considering the kind of life investment a Bugatti is, though, and it makes sense to want to keep a little of it close always.
