Canada’s Felino CB7 Sports Car Debuts
And my verdict is… they can keep it, though considering they have plans to import this Canadian built sports car to the U.S, perhaps a well-backed deportation petition could be a better suited move. I apologize in advance, I hate being mean. It gives me a searing pain at the bottom of my lungs and generally colors my days’ interactions in splashes of red auric energy. It’s exhausting, really.
Truth be told, the pre-production CB7’s spec sheet makes it a pretty monstrously enticing little street racer by a young startup company. Originally debuting at the 2014 Montreal Auto Show, the CB7 gets its power from a 6.2L V8 good for a more than solid 525HP. Rear wheel drive with 6-speed manual or sequential options, ideal 50-50 weight distribution, all stuffed into a carbon fiber body.
Rumored curb-weight: 2,500lb (awesome)
That’s not all. It’s designed to be completely street legal and the power is guided by a front-midship design that uses independent suspension with double wishbones at both ends. Stopping power comes courtesy of 6 and 4 piston brake calipers (front and rear) with optional carbon ceramic discs. All for around $100,000.
But within this gorgeous pitch lies an inherently serious problem.
The car is not pretty. It has an uncomfortably phallic profile and is a severely mismashed amalgamation of lines, curves, and edges. It’s what I’d imagine the Batmobile’s design to be had Batman been blind. It’s a storm trooper helmet meets Darth Vader’s mask.
Either way, I’m still interested to see more footage of this thing. Would love to see it get a go around on Top Gear’s test track.
