New Clip Featuring 2016 EVO ‘Car of the Year’ Event Is 27 Minutes of Beauty and Horsepower

The 2016 EVO Car of the Year event was a wild one to be certain. Across a dozen cars that included everything from cheap Ford hatchbacks to Italian exotics like the Lamborghini Huracan, it took nearly en entire week to decide on a winner. Thankfully, the entire ordeal was filmed and it has now been crafted into a gorgeous film of automotive pornography for all to enjoy.

Let’s start by diving into the car list. On the affordable side of the spectrum there is a pair of hot hatches with the Ford Focus RS and the Volkswagen GTI Clubsport S. Move up that price scale and you run into the classic German names like BMW and Mercedes with the M2, M4 GTS and C63 S Coupe. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio joins in the fray as well. As you creep farther up the price bracket you run into the true supercar arena with the Honda NSX, Audi R8 V10 Plus, McLaren 570S, Aston Martin Vantage GT8, Porsche 911 R, and the aforementioned Huracan.

What is the most interesting and exciting thing about bringing together such a wide and varied array of cars is finding out just how little price and horsepower can really mean at the end of the day. The Lamborghini Huracan is one of the most expensive and most powerful cars in the lineup, but it barely managed to finish in 8th. The Volkswagen GTI Clubsport however blew past everyone’s expectations and straight into the runner-up position. There is something to be said for usable sports cars, as fun every day vehicles.

…and the winner is?

The winner at the end of the day is my favorite car from all of 2016, the Porsche 911 R. As the purest expression of the 911 on sale today it is hard to beat in my eyes. The team at EVO loved it and praised it for its steering feel, powerful engine, and purist experience.

The video is a little long at 27 minutes, but I promise it’s worth your time. From the beautiful cinematography to the powerful music choices and the roar of the various engines, you will be entertained for every second.
