What Was the Best Concept Car of 2013?
I have a love/hate it relationship with concept cars.
On one hand, concept cars are the ideal. They’re the clay figurines, design language and concepts, heritage, and auto-maker stories embodied into one off models made of real car composites.
On the other hand, they can be shells of empty promises. Nothing but wishful thinking and a reminder of shareholder reservations – how many times have we seen a concept car that we’re fawning and drooling over, only to get a production vehicle that makes you think…. “What? Really?”
Concept cars are just that – they’re an emotional roller coaster built to tap into your senses, to go against better judgement, and to make you inquire on the potential of exploring existing options their respective auto manufacturers.
But when reality strikes, it can be like the morning after a long night drinking binge with a less than optimal result: running mascara and an oddly downturned mouth.
But one can dream, and one can love.
I had a great time reading through Car and Driver’s Best Concept Cars of 2013. Luckily for our 6SO community – most of these are geared towards the performance heads and super car enthusiasts.
