How to Properly Flog a Porsche 911 GT3 RS
The 991 editionĀ of the 911 GT3 is a pretty epic car. Whether or not you agree with the choice of only offering a PDK transmission, you have to admit a 9,000 RPM straight-6 and four-wheel steering is just delicious.
But even with the GT3, we knew there’d be something better. That’s the GT3 RS. Now, Chris Harris has driven it and recorded it all on video for us.
This video is Porsche pornography at its finest, but let’s give you some of the highlights. On the streets, Chris is driving an orange GT3 RS and absolutely loves it. He is especially impressed with the width of the front tires, and how much extra grip the RS has over the regular GT3.
Since the PDK already shifts pretty fast, Porsche has gone to great lengths to decrease the length of a paddle pull to select another gear. They really are paying attention to every single detail.
On the circuit, Harris switches to a purple GT3 RS, and I must admit I like the purple in this film. As is usual, the color selector on Porsche’s website doesn’t depict the color accurately, so it’s nice to see it in the flesh.
Harris really doesn’t have any criticism of the car as he slings it around Porsche’s test track. If you want to just go quickly around a corner, the car will do it. If you want to go around the corner sideway, the car will do it. It looks like it’s going to be a fantastic performer.
Check out the video and then let us know what you think in forums. In the meantime, I’ll be digging under the sofa cushions for some extra coins.
