Porsche Takes on Lambo in Drag Race: Clash of the Titans
One speedway, two cars enter, one drives away victorious. Will it be a Porsche or a Lamborghini?
In the latest video by DragTimes, two Porsches are pitted against each other in three races. One is a Porsche 911 GT3 RS 991, the other a Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2. Yup, that “2” at the end means that this Lambo is rear-wheel drive, just like the Porsche. Can the lighter Porsche take down the extra horsepower of the Lamborghini? It’s thrilling and fun to watch, of course, and the cars look awesome. But what really stands out is damn, these cars sound amazing.
The first match-up is Porsche versus Porsche. In one corner is a 2018 Porsche 991.2 GT3 with a 4.0-liter, flat-six engine, producing 500 hp. It’s going up against a 2016 Porsche 991.1 GT3 with a 3.8-liter engine, making about 475 hp. Comparing the two, it seems pretty close, but we’d have to say advantage goes to the 4.0. The host revs up each, and they sound utterly fierce. The host, Brooks, says “I had to hold my ears. Really loud! Sounds great.”
The Porsches do a launch control test. Both perform admirably but the 3.8 does spin out more, so the 4.0 does have the advantage with grip.
‘Off the line, this thing got 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, which is not much slower than the Lambo.’
The Porsches do three races, and the 4.0 takes all three in a clean sweep. Brooks says of the 4.0, “Off the line, this thing got 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, which is not much slower than the Lambo.”
Now, the Porsche and the Lamborghini face off.
Well, OK, so the Lamborghini just blows the Porsche away. It’s pretty hard to beat the Huracan’s horsepower, no matter how much lighter the competitor may be. But there is no shame in Porsche’s game, this car is fast and powerful. In fact Brooks next hops in the Porsche to experience it. “After that race I want to experience that launch! I want to feel this thing go 0-60 in 2.9 seconds.” They take off like a rocket. “It hits hard, a tiny bit of spin, and then it just launches off,” Brooks says. They take the Porsche out again, and it’s filmed really well giving you a POV from inside the car. Very cool.
Definitely check out this video for a solid fix of hot cars and serious velocity.
