We Talk to the Man Behind the Coolest POV Car Photos on the Net
With Most Car Angles Explored by Other Photographers, Ervin Boer Set out to Invite His Fans Inside his Rides
There are many skilled and naturally-gifted photographers out there, and a few of them have chosen automobiles as their main discipline. Some prefer low light, some prefer landscapes, and some prefer close ups. That being said, few have ventured into POV, which stands for point-of-view.
I had the opportunity to sit down for a chat with Ervin Boer, the magician behind these POV photos. I wanted to find out his motivation behind POV. After all, not only is it harder to get a good shot from inside a car, but you also have go get in it first. I don’t care how good of a photographer Ervin or anyone is, gaining access into someone’s Rolls Royce can be rather difficult.
Why POV?
While Ervin’s portfolio extends to many other awesome photos besides POV, it’s these that have gone viral. So I asked him why? What’s the reasoning? “Because people who watch the images can almost feel like they are inside the car,” said Ervin. It makes sense, while a lucky few are able to hop into high-end cars regularly, there are others that may never have that chance.
Taking a point of view photo not only invites his fans inside, but shows them see a view they may never see otherwise.
Favorite Car
After photographing the world’s most desirable cars, I figured Ervin might have a favorite one. But his answer was rather surprising. “…hmmm hard to tell , let’s say my favorite car is my personal car, because I can jump in it whenever I want too,” he said. Again, another wildly simplistic answer.
In case you don’t follow his Facebook page, Ervin’s personal car is a yellow Audi A3 TDI with a manual transmission. Oh, and can’t forget to mention the matching Minion!
