Apparently, there is room to improve on the interior styling of Britain’s finest grand tourer.

One 6SpeedOnline forum member, speedracer800, decided to make some changes to the interior of his Aston Martin DBS. We love threads like this because it’s entertaining no matter what. If it’s awful, there’s that; but if it’s good, that’s even better. These modifications fall easily into the second category of being good. Really good.

DBS trim prototype

When he started the thread, speedracer800 explained his inspiration, saying, “My idea for the DBS was to go in a more classy and richer look in the interior. Moving away from the sportier carbon fiber bits and adding more leather, piano black wood and polished finishes to the cars dash and console areas.” Now that’s something we can get on board with. Many forum members agreed with the sentiment too.

First, he removed the metal trim and knobs and sent them to a plating and polishing shop in Chicago. Initially, they tried a fully polished look, but speedracer800 noted that it attracted fingerprints like no other. So they settled on a brushed finish around the edge and a polished surface towards the top. The result is striking compared with the stock aluminum that looks almost dull next to the refinished piece.

The seats and door panels get a diamond stitched pattern that comes out looking, in the words of user bunob, “Amazing”. We have to agree. The diamond stitching on the doors, accented with just the right amount of carbon fiber, is exactly what we would do…you know, given the same money and an Aston Martin DBS to play with.

He isn’t through, though. In the thread speedracer800 mentions that he has the steering wheel out and being refinished in “piano black wood and leather with white stitching to match the cars existing interior”. We can’t wait to see it.

What are your thoughts on this subtly modified Aston Martin DBS? Weigh in on the thread here, and join us in the forums if you haven’t already.
