DeadMau5 Trolls Ferrari Once Again
A few years ago, then Ferrari owner Joel Zimmerman, better known as DeadMau5, received a cease and desist letter from the prancing horse’s legal department. In the letter, DeadMau5 was ordered to unwrap his Ferrari 458 Italia and bring it into what Ferrari determined was brand compliance. What happened next was a fairly public and hilarious feud between the two. What started this feud? A Nyan cat wrap.
In the end, Zimmerman did comply with Ferrari’s order, then immediately sold the 458 and bought a brand new Lamborghini Huracan to spite Ferrari, which of course became known as the Purracan. Now it’s been a year or so since the whole debacle and Zimmerman recently took his Nyan Cat liveried Purracan to a local Canadian auto show where it actually won an award.
According to AutoEvolution, Zimmerman’s Lamborghini won “”Baddest Lamborghini” at the show. It seems that Zimmerman’s having the last laugh, and Ferrari is missing out on some ridiculously awesome free publicity. We’re not sure why Ferrari had the conniption fit it did, but the company has to be kicking itself now.
