Diesel Emissions Drama Continues with Mercedes-Benz

Diesel Emissions

Diesel-gate, diesel drama, diesel scandal, call it whatever you want, but the list of ‘dirty’ manufacturers seems to grow every week.

This time, it’s the three-pointed star of Mercedes-Benz that is being dragged to court via federal lawsuit, with similar claims to those of fellow German manufacturer, Volkswagen, which as we all know, has been engulfed in the biggest emissions-cheating scandal in automotive history.

A New Jersey Court was the recipient of allegations made by an Illinois Benz owner, that claims Mercedes vehicles run a device in their BlueTec models that shuts off the system which reduces nitrogen oxide in the exhaust, only when running at cool temperatures. Got all of that?

While it’s unclear how an average Mercedes owner could’ve possibly found this out, the claim is being taken seriously amid the diesel drama happening globally. Joerg Howe, a spokesman for Mercedes’s parent Daimler AG, claims there are no facts whatsoever behind such suit, and threw out the typical corporate verbiage—”the company will defend itself”, and that “all vehicles comply with all regulatory standards required by the U.S government”.

Only time will tell, but who do you think is next to the chopping block?
