2016 Nissan GT-R

You know what’s impressive? A 1,380-horsepower 2016 Nissan GT-R going 190 miles per hour. You know what’s even more impressive? Going that fast while driving sideways.

Check out the impressive video below, which showcases Japanese drift champion Masato Kawabata breaking the Guiness World Record for the fastest drift ever recorded. Kawabata pushes the Nismo tuned, rear-wheel drive MY16 Nissan GT-R to a top speed of 350 km/h before opposite locking into a 304.96 km/h controlled drift at a 30 degree angle.

This all went down at a special event in the United Arab Emirates on March 3rd, 2016. The drifting itself took place on a 3 km long airstrip at Fujairah International Airport.

Furthermore, Kawabata didn’t just break Jakub Przygoński’s old record once that day, he did so on three separate runs.

Darned impressive indeed. Can you imagine going that fast and then initiating a drift? I’d sure as heck be scared sideways. What about you?
