'Drive Safe' AI Porsche Art Installation Is a Sobering Reminder to Stay Safe Behind the Wheel

An artist created a Porsche art installation with ultra-real AI images of crashed 911s

A crashed Porsche is always something of a spectacle. Especially when you consider the swollen starting prices of world-class performance models like the 992 Porsche 911 GT3. However, it’s not every day that you see a Porsche art installation made of unceremoniously wrecked 992 Porsche 911s.

According to Cole Kessel, a digital artist with an affinity for automotive muses, the Porsche art installation is a nod to a “horrific accident” involving a 991 911 GT3. Easy enough to believe, too. The 911 GT3 is a benchmark among track-ready road cars. Consequently, it’s ballistically fast and a bit of an instigator.

Chris Harris of Top Gear had next to no gripes for the GT3, and scores of praise regarding its on-track behavior. However, Harris has a bit more time in a racecar than your average track-goer. Therein lies the point of the “Drive Safe” Porsche art installation. Kessel asserts that the dramatic images of bright yellow 911s planted into the walls of the historic Louvre in Paris serve to educate as well as delight and entertain.

The Louvre-based images serve to remind drivers to be safe and remember their limitations

“If this post leads to just one single person approaching their next drive more carefully, it was worth it.” That’s what Kessel said of the Porsche-themed art exhibit. “The key message would be to always remember your own limitations and pay close attention to your actions and surroundings.”

In addition to the AI installation’s message, the wounded Porsches are beautiful in their own right. It’s an eye-popping dichotomy between ultra-modern, high-performance Porsche 911s and the columns of the iconic Louvre. Kessel says the imagery “did become somewhat of a digital art installation already if you will, evoking different emotions in different viewers.”
