Medusa: A Custom Drop Top Viper Can Be Yours for an Additional $35K
We’ve all been wondering if Dodge would finally bring out a convertible version of the Viper since it launched a few years ago. Well, those years went by and nothing has been spoken about a drop top Viper at all.
This has led some to believe that it isn’t in the cards over at Dodge, so a small company named Prefix Performance took it upon themselves to create the car that Dodge is seemingly refusing to build.
Labeled the Medusa, the drop top Viper is still powered by the amazing 8.6L V10, and took about seven weeks to build the finished product.
At the moment this is just a concept, the company’s owner Kim Zeile said they built this prototype to gauge the reaction of the public, and by some of the reactions at the reveal, there’s a good chance the car could be made.
Right now, Prefix is just the company that paints and finishes the Vipers, which then get sent back to Dodge to be assembled. But they have plans to grow further and take their company to the next level of design and manufacturing, potentially starting with this Medusa concept.
There is still a lot of work that needs to be done to the car before it’s road legal or even approved for production, but Zeile says the car would cost most likely an additional $35,000 on the already $100,000 supercar.
So if you are hankering for an open top snake, get over to Zeile’s office today and fork over some cash because when asked how fast the car could be ready, Zeile stated to Autoweek, “If someone wanted to write a check today, Prefix would be working on it Monday morning.”
