Some of us are happy to dream big as we race our slot car versions of this spectacular machine.

Our nifty 1 in 24 scale car pretends to be the 2018 Mercedes AMG C63 DTM that Formula 1 driver Pascal Wehrlein raced in the flesh back in 2018.

It Makes a Nifty Slot Car Racer

The scale car is swift. It’s among our favorite Magnetic DTM class cars in our little slot garage. So my fascination peaked when I saw that the real thing is now for sale. Yes, now you can buy Wehrlein’s actual 2018 Mercedes AMG C63 DTM racer.

The exotic golden era old school V8 Class 1 German Touring Car racing machine is standing at German supercar merchant Mechatronik for a snip at $1.55 million. The series switched to turbo 2-liters from 2019 and becomes a GT3 production-based formula from this weekend at Monza. All of which brings a nostalgic twist. And adds classic value.

But This One’s the Real Thing!

This particular Silver Arrow RS15-012 was built late in 2014 and made its debut in 2015 DTM season. Robert Wickens drove it for three seasons before he made flight to IndyCar.

The car evolved with the DTM regulations throughout its career and was in its ultimate specification when handed to Canadian Wehrlein to drive for the 2018 season. That was also Mercedes and the 550 HP V8 engine’s swansong DTM year before the switch to turbo 2-litres.
