Ducati Draws Crowd for Nine New Bikes in 2016
Despite all the bad press that has hit the Volkswagen Group thanks to DieselGate, Ducati appears to not be any worse for wear. Proving that, they brought out a lot of major talent to their unveiling at Motorcycle Live at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, UK. However, the real stars were the bikes and the best was yet to come.
The big news was the brand new XDiavel on the “Total Black” stage. This is a hotly anticipated reveal since it is the first time that Ducati will build that class of motorcycle. It certainly has the look, technology, and performance but will those be enough to get people away from more well-known cruisers and on to a Ducati?
Then there was the 959 Panigale, it replaces the fan favorite 899 with a 955cc Superguadro engine. There are also chassis and fairing improvements and seems to already be a winner in Ducati Superbike fans eyes.
Another new segment that the Italian mark is entering is the adventure bike class with the Multistrada 1200 Enduro. It’s already starting off right with a set of spoked wheels in 19-inch front and 17-inch rear, so soaking up bumps and jumps won’t be an issue.
Then there is the favorite that took the world by storm; the Scrambler Sixty2. The Sixty2 gets a 399cc engine and opens up the market for beginner riders who want Scrambler style without the licensing requirements or the price.
To help highlight just how big Ducati is becoming in the UK, popular celebrities showed up that were also Ducati riders themselves. Celebrity Chef Paul Hollywood mad an appearance looking at getting a XDiavel as his next bike along with McBusted’s Matt Willis. Ducati TriOptions Cup ambassador Niall Mackenzie interviewed Ducati’s riders Shakey Byrne, from the British Superbike Championship, and Scott Redding, MotoGP and OCTO Pramac rider.
